QR Code For Charging – Here Is A Step-By-Step Guide
As part of another move to curb pollution now EV users will be able to pay for the charging of the electronic cars via the digital method. This is possible with Unified Payment Interface (UPI) a payment system that enables transferring of money with a smartphone between two bank accounts. The process allows a customer to pay directly to the merchant both online and offline. UPI system as part of BHIM does not require the customer to type in the card details or merchant’s bank account details, IFSC code, wallet passwords and such. It is a hassle-free process.
However, to use the QR code the customer needs to have a smartphone that can recognize the QR code and scan it.
Step-By-Step Guide to Use QR code
1. Smartphone users both Android and iOS need to download the ‘BHIM’ app. Android users can fund it at the Play Store while iPhone users can search for it in the Application.
2. Install the application and after that select your language. The app will then next prompt you to verify the phone number you are using with an SMS. Once you input that click on the Next icon. At this stage, you have to wait for few seconds for the verification of your phone number to be completed.
3. Once the verification is done, you will be prompted to enter a passcode comprising of four digits.
After you set the passcode, you will be prompted to choose the bank.
4. After selecting the bank, the app will automatically get the details with the help of the phone number that you have verified. At this stage, your primary bank account needs to be selected for any transactions you want to do. The app will then give you the options:
1. Send
2. Request
3. Scan/Pay
Also, bear in mind that the transaction of the money can be done only between phone numbers that have been verified by the app.
To send the money you can either enter their phone number and the amount that you wish to transfer. A PIN will be sent to you via SMS that you need to enter to continue with the transfer. You can also transfer the money using the QR code option. In this, a black and white the two-dimensional barcode is shown. This code needs to be scanned by the smartphone to decode it. Each phone number has its unique QR code.
Once you scan the QR code you will be prompted to enter the amount of money that you are charged for recharging you an electronic vehicle at a commercial EV charging station.
After you enter the amount you will get a PIN on your phone via SMS, you need to enter that and confirm the transaction.
On confirming the transaction the amount will be processed from your bank to the merchant’s bank.
The QR code scanning process has made transferring the money easier, where you do not have to queue to pay the amount for recharging your electronic vehicle. QR code payment is not only a smart and efficient way of paying for the service of charging your vehicle at an EV charging station but it is also a safe process of payment. With technology, it ensures that there is no theft and since it is the bank-to-bank transaction the processing is immediate and also reduces the fee for the payment process.
